GTS Slovakia is the first company in Slovakia to provide services using unbundled local loops.

Provision of communication services through the copper wire telephone lines was made possible on the basis of a local loop unbundling contract concluded with Slovak Telecom, a.s.

Our equipment supplied by Alcatel-Lucent utilizes state-of-the-art SHDSL.bis based technology which allows creation of symmetrical high speed data connections through subscriber lines with excellent parameters ideal for commercial use. The transfer speed with usage of one copper pair can reach up to 5.7 Mbit/s in each direction, when several pairs are used, the speed multiplies proportionally. The same upload and download speeds make the SHDSL.bis based service ideal for corporate customers.

The SHDSL.bis technology, also called the “Ethernet on the First Mile” allows fast, efficient and flexible construction of stable data connections with excellent parameters even in locations difficult to cover using other technologies. Alongside the existing optical network and carrier class wireless network, this technology gives GTS Slovakia yet another option to provide subscriber access.

“Usage of this technology will allow GTS Slovakia to provide a wide range of data, internet and voice communication services intended mainly for the corporate clients. Our medium and large business solutions will be designed as individual projects tailored to customer demands,” said Stanislav Molčan, Chairman of the Board at GTS Slovakia. “For smaller businesses we offer a comprehensive small office communication package comprising of high-quality internet access and a telephone service allowing easy creation of a corporate voice network and a virtual fax allowing to send and receive fax via e-mail. Clients switching over from their existing phone lines can retain their current phone numbers,” added S. Molčan.

Services of GTS Slovakia provided over the unbundled local loops are currently available in the centre of Bratislava and we are conducting technical studies needed to expand coverage both in Bratislava and in another nine towns (over the course of 2010).
